LARRY AND HIS FLASK

Sign to Xtra Mile Recordings
- New EP out May 2013 –
- Plus a huge UK and European tour -

Xtra Mile Recordings are proud and excited to announce the signing of the formidable Larry And His Flask to the label and give details of their forthcoming EP, tour and forthcoming new album.

We welcome the hirsute six-piece from Oregon, USA with open arms and already have plans to release their EP ‘Hobo’s Lament’ digitally on 22nd April 2013 with a limited numbered CD EP on 6th May 2013.

Then in early June we will be giving their outstanding new full length album its worldwide release – more information on that coming very soon.

Having toured together in the States, the Flask (as the band’s expanding army of fans calls them) come to the UK and Europe to support Frank Turner on his sold out album tour in April as well play a HUGE run of headline shows. Full list of dates over-leaf.

Formed by brothers Jamin and Jesse Marshall in 2003, the Flask spent its first half-decade stuck in a primordial, punk-rock goop, where a blood-sweat-and-beers live show took priority over things like notes and melodies. Don’t misunderstand: The band was (somewhat) skilled and an absolute joy to watch, but the goal was always the party over perfection.

More recently, however, Larry And His Flask have gone from crawl to sprint at breakneck speed. The band’s new songs are a blurry blend of lightning fast string-band picking, gorgeous nods to old-school country, and sublime multi-part harmonies, all presented through a prism of punk chaos. The shows are gloriously physical displays of live music’s sheer power. Keep your eyes peeled, or risk taking the heavy end of Jesse Marshall’s flailing, stand-up bass right between the eyes.

Managing Director of Xtra Mile Recordings Charlie Caplowe says: “Saw this lot in the States last year and was blown away by their frenetic mad bluegrass/punk. From that moment on I couldn’t wait to release their music on Xtra Mile and get them over to here to play. Go see. Go buy!”

The band says: “We couldn’t be happier joining the Xtra Mile family.  We’ve held off releasing our music outside North America for far too long, waiting for the perfect fit.  We are sure that we found our match.”

FRANK TURNER
RELEASES NEW DOCUMENTARY
‘THE WAY I TEND TO BE’
NEW ALBUM ‘TAPE DECK HEART’ OUT 22nd APRIL ON Xtra Mile Recordings

Frank Turner has released an intimate new documentary charting his incredible personal journey from erstwhile frontman of seminal UK punk group Million Dead to internationally recognised solo artist. Directed by Gregory Nolan, and told in Frank’s own words, ‘The Way I Tend To Be’ offers fans an insight into the formative years of one of the UK’s leading musicians.

Amidst previously unseen footage, Frank explains his beginnings from his first hardcore band Kneejerk, to being front man for UK punk iconoclasts Million Dead and their anarchic and energetic live shows, also talking at length about the burnout that eventually steered him to become a solo artist. From humble beginnings and extensive touring of the UK, Frank’s burgeoning talents as a solo writer and performer began to resonate with a small but fervent fan base, but breakout success followed in the wake of a string of critically acclaimed albums, resulting in a recent 12 month period in which Frank headlined a sold-out Wembley Arena show and performed by invitation of Danny Boyle at the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony.

Currently on tour in Australasia with a sold out run of UK dates to follow in April ‘The Way I Tend To Be’ is an insightful and arresting documentary for new and diehard fans alike.

The new album 'Tape Deck Heart' is released on 22nd April on Xtra Mile Recordings.
